Global Marine Tracking System Deployed for Megatug

From system concept to onboard deployment in South America in five weeks.

TAMPA FL – November 3, 2006 – Megatug this week deployed its 400-ton vessel for Africa with a new global tracking system—just five weeks after contacting Valeo Corporation, a leading fleet asset tracking system provider.  The vessel’s American- based management team had tasked Valeo in September to provide an onshore tracking system; installed and operating before the ship’s early November departure for Africa.  By the end of October a reliable new system was designed and onboard docked in Cartagena, Colombia  where vessel preparations were underway.  With no schedule slack nor time for rebuilds, Valeo ensured efficient and professional onboard installation by dispatching Client Service Director, Herman Rios, to the vessel docked in the Latin American port.

Valeo’s marine tracking now system allows Megatug management to track vessel position globally and in near real-time via a Valeo’s client web interface.   And, Valeo’s online client interface allows Megatug management to graphically configure, on demand, geo-fencing zones for onshore alerts to phones and pagers.  This allows vessel management to quickly be informed when the ship leaves its contracted zone of operation.
